How to get to Rome
By car you'll take about 20/25 minutes to arrive to the city
(in a non top traffic hour) but traffic is the biggest problem
in Rome that is a very wide city that in normal conditions takes about 1 hour or more to be crossed,
so the real time you take to arrive depends of "which part
of Rome you have to go" !
This means that even if you stay in Rome for your
holidays, you wouldn't escape from traffic!! About all
historic centre of Rome is interdicted to private
cars, so be aware of fines (but many "rent car companies" have permits, so ask them.
Parking is quite difficult to find and signs are not so good, so we suggest you to not go by car. Only in August the traffic is much lower and you may enjoy better the "eternal city", even by car !!
If you want to visit the heart of the city as Vatican, Colosseum, foro Romano, Campidoglio, via Veneto, Villa Borghese, churches and shopping area etc., we suggest you to go by bus (we have a stop just on the door) or train and then, once in Rome use the "metro". It's much more confortable, relaxing...and cheap !!
It takes about the same time than going by car, just few minutes more.
In spring or summer (or when the weather allows it) we may also suggest you to take train or bus to the city centre and then rent a scooter to get around. It's cheap, easy to find, to park, allowed in those areas interdicted to cars, but be aware to your safety when driving !
Actually you really need a car or a taxi to go to rome only if you just want to stay there till late night after dinner, as the last train or bus to Fregene departs at 11.30 p.m.
Anyway
in summertime discos in fregene are very "in vogue" and crowded by people coming from Roma every night !!
In any case ask us, we'll be happy to advice you and help you for any needs, in order to make your staying pleasant as much as possible.
